Hi,
I am originally from Europe and did religious studies in South-Africa. I got married, Dec 2010, in Canada. We filed in our application two years ago in December, 2012. At that time, my file was being processed in Europe. The GCMS notes state in unambiguous terms that the eligibility of our marriage has passed. Due to some information missing in the application, I was required to come over for an interview. Since I was studying in South Africa at that time, I requested for a transfer of my application file, which materialized 3 months later in Pretoria where I had to attend the interview on February this year, 2014.
The GCMS notes also state that a security screening was called upon my person, but later on cancelled.
GCMS notes are completely silent about any matter AFTER the Pretoria interview.

After clarifying with them what is taking so long they replied on the 1st of July casting doubts on the eligibility of our marriage, (even though we have been living together as husband and wife for four full years in South Africa whilst I was studying there.), that my medical assessment was expired and that a security screening is still required to be completed.

Whilst I am sympathetic to their security protocols, however currently graduated, I am simply not able to get on with my life. I can merely stay here as a tourist here in Canada. For the first time in our entire relationship, I have to consider the idea of being separated from my spouse for no material reason. I may have to consider employment abroad just because these people are taking inordinately long in doing absolutely nothing. If something was in progress, but judging from the feedback of the GCMS-notes, from February up till now, nothing has been done.

Does anybody have any idea as to what I can do?

have you attempted to contact the sponsor's MP (member of parliament)? they may be able to help figure out how much longer it will be. Also, i read something about a rule regarding interviews, that a decision needs to be made within 60 days? i'm not sure how reliable that info is, so hopefully someone can direct you correctly...

Thank you for the reply.
We contacted the MP on two occasions. Regretfully, this was not very helpful. They just email the High Commission to ask what is going on and then they reply: We are still busy, within 3 weeks we reply. After three weeks, we get the news they need an additional 8 weeks to come to a decision. In this manner, the whole saga continues ad infinitum.
The 60 day rule would be awesome, any idea where I can find out?
