Does anyone know how long does the Security Check take?
I applied for TRV and checked with the embassy in Jordan and I was informed that it is in the Security Check.

Let me know
thanks

It can take many months if you have an "interesting" history.

Thanks :)
I really dont
I've lived there and studied there. Never had a problem , never over stayed a visa. Plus, they have asked for a certificate of good conduct from the local intelligence agency which I have submitted.

You said in http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/visitor-visa-from-jordan-delay-t169049.0.html;msg2650212#msg2650212 that it was a police certificate. There is no such thing as an intelligence agency certificate.
There could be any number of reasons why your check is taking longer. You might have the same name as a known terrorist for example.

I was contacted on the 9th of Sept by the embassy asking me to submit a certificate of good conduct from the general intelligence agency in Jordan.
It is considered the highest ranking police authority in Jordan. the certificate said that I am not wanted by the Jordanian authorities on anything and that certificate is valid for one year. Plus this letter was headed with ( To Travel To Canada )

Yep, that's a POLICE certificate.. The "spooks" are a different crowd all together.. It's them that do the "security check"...

I should not worry as I have never had a problem with a visa before. I travel to Europe and Ireland alot for work and I have never had an issue.
I can only wait , though I was hopping to celebrate xmas with my old friends and nephews !

How about you application status now? Has the security check finished ? How long does it really take? I also have traveled to some countries for business and now is during security checking.

hi! do canadian embassy requires police certificates in my past work/job in other country?

It depends. If you have traveled to many other countries, seems "running" a lot, you have high possibility to be invited for an interview and maybe go through a much longer background check.

The rules are very clear. If you have spent more than 6 continuous months in ANY country since the age of 18, you must provide a police certificate from that country, regardless of how long ago it was. The police certificate must be less than 3 months old when CIC receive it. You don't normally have to provide one for Canada, as CIC can obtain it themselves.

i hope canadian embassy won't require us a police clearance because we don't know where to get it! kuwait and saudi is the country where i worked....

Just search the forum. Lots of people have managed to obtain them and the process that they used is given in their posts.
You will be expected to provide them...
