Second interview!? what the hell

Hey all,

I sponsored my partner to come to Canada under conjugal partner option and we had our first interview on Sep. 9th. Today we received an email from Visa office in Sao Paulo (where my partner is living and we had our interview there, although he is not Brazilian) that my partner should attend another interview. I called them to check if there is anything wrong and they told me that it is for background check! so any one has any idea about this second interview? I need it ASAP as our interview is in about a week.
 
I have never heard about people needing a second interview?! Please keep us posted for sure..my husband is processing through Sao Paulo too, and is not a Brazilian either. How long did it take you to get your first interview date?
 
The only thing I can think of is that something else came up that they need to discuss with you. Maybe the first interview was about the relationship and now they want to ask about something that came up on the background check?
 
well i think you should call and ask what documents/information that you should walk with for the interview. that should give you an indication of what perhaps they want to dig into ...

and there is caips notes...i dont know if you can get it before the interview though.
 
thanks for responses. as I mentioned I called them and she told me that there is no need to bring anything. Just the passport and I asked her if there is anything wrong and if it is normal for the second interview, she did not respond to the first question but she said it is normal procedure. I am really freaked out! If it is really for background check, what will they check in the interview? do you have any Idea. I have read a lot about the second interview on the net and they are mostly telling that it is for background screening! does anyone have any idea? :'(

Just Heard from Immigration today with a date for my husband's first interview 3 months away, they also said a SECOND interview will be scheduled 3 months after the first. I have no idea why they need a second interview. Sounds like we have a long wait.

Sounds like a security interview for the second interview, the same as the OP.
 
Sao Paulo will also issue the visa on the same day as an interview, so I would take it as a good sign! Likely they just want to go over a few things with your partner as more of a formality and then issue the visa same day. Especially since you weren't asked to bring anything, I would say it's a good sign, and that you shouldn't worry too much.
 
I agree with bobshynoswife...I think you should take as a good sign. They only asked to bring the passport and to me that could only mean that they are ready to issue the visa, of course why wouldnt they just say they have made a decision right?

Try to think positive and that it will be good news.

thanks for all the replies. You know the thing that makes me worry is that we have not paid the PR fee and the officer on the day of the first interview told to my partner that they will send a letter and in that letter they will ask for the fees. I start surfing and I couldn't find anything regarding the payment of the fees. but hopefully they will ask for the fee later.

Hi, If your letter does not state a CSIS interview you should be fine , so dont worry . :)
 
Milad, did your husband have his 2nd interview? How did it go? My husband has a 2nd interview in Feb so I wanted to see how your husband's was and what they asked.
