Hi everyone. I have a question regarding visa extension process. My girlfriend came to Canada 3 months ago. She has been issued two visitor permits: one at her entry (for two weeks) and then we applied for an extension and got approved for another 4 months. I am pr and we are getting married this month. Then are going to apply for outland family class sponsorship. We were choosing between inland and Outland ways and since with the second one it would only take 12 months we have decided to stick with it. Now there's a question if we can apply for another extension. I know that some people were extending their visas multiple times. So in our case if we are applying for another extension, do we have to prove our ties? She has obviously lost her job back in her country, but still has other ties. What would be the best way to get that extension?

I've only extended my visitor status once, but here's my two cents:

They're probably most interested in seeing that she will be abiding by the rules - in other words, that she will not be working illegally (that she has enough money to stay here without working, or that you are going to support her financially) and that she will not overstay.

I provided pay stubs and bank statements for my husband (the Canadian) to prove there is ample money to support my "visit" in Canada. When I applied for an extension, I had already applied for PR, and I sent them a copy of the receipt of the fees for my application as well as my application number, and I explained that the last thing I want to do is jeopardize my application for PR, so if my application to extend my visitor status is denied, I am ready and willing to leave Canada immediately. Google "dual intent" - that's ok, as long as they have no concerns about her breaking rules.

I know you haven't applied yet, but it might be worthwhile to pay all the fees now and send a copy of the receipts as proof that you are going to apply soon for PR.
