School acceptance for minor (secondary school)

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone's had any experience with getting a minor registered for public school (grade 8, secondary school)?

I'm a Canadian citizen with a step daughter and her mom living with me. The mom and I are married and we've applied for inland sponsorship (have yet to receive an AOR). I have applied for their visitor record, as well as the child's study permit. I only have confirmation of submission for both applications. I was wondering if there's any way she can get admitted to school with the information above? Please if you have an idea or experience with this lmk. I'm getting mixed responses from both the Catholic and Public board of education (I know it's a rare case? I'm taking my chances and hoping someone else has dealt and successfully gotten their step-child registered for school)

Public district is wanting the study permit approval as well as possibly the visitor record which from what I'm seeing could take months. I'm looking to see if there's a path to accelerate her acceptance process with her having a Canadian step-father. Thanks so much.

No way to accelerate if you have applied for a study permit. If school boards want an approved study permit then you wait for it. School board decides what is accepted to enrol child. She is included in the PR application?

Yea she is, reason I'm even posting here is I did make calls several times in the past few months to both Catholic and Public School boards and I've gotten mixed and different answers at times to now the Catholic School Board is looking to accept her with just a confirmation of the Visitor Record application, while the Public School Board is awaiting her Study Permit with both of them requiring our marriage certificate.

Tbh another reason is we we're hoping to get accepted to the Public School as our first choice because it's so much closer to home. The Catholic School catchment for my area is about 15-20 kms. Should I notify the Public School Board we are being considered by the Catholic Board for less paperwork (I didn't want to seem arrogant by letting them know that)?

It is the discretion of each school board. The public board doesn't care that you may send your child to the catholic board for less paperwork. You can tell them but they may say okay but our policy is an approved study permit.
