Hi,

For a single person 70K is a good salary.
As pv mentioned check your tax.
Living style and expenses varies according to individuals.

I second that George.
It'll be interesting & inspiring to know how one manages to get such a 'dream' offer from abroad, if one is not already in Canada or is not moving laterally.

BTW, around $5,800/month is a damn good offer, Soham.

Congrats on the great offer!

Its a very good one to start off with.

I 'third" what Qorax and George request - please shed some light to us as well.

70K is indeed a pretty good offer for a start if u have not worked in Canada or does not have canadian experience before. It would be greatly appreciated by everyone in this forum if Soham sir, would provide us the information requested by George so that everyone here can have a good idea and understand where and how to go about getting the "dream" starting salary of yours!

Thanks dude!

Hi Rsb
Can I request you to provide further details?
I don't have any Indian friends to help in the matter
80k and 15 bonus doesn't sound bad but most blogs talk about it as average. My company thinks its good.
I checked on net and for 80k, I should get a net of 4800 monthly(I make 2500 net in India)
Is this good for family of 3(self, wife and 3 yr old)
Can I save 1000 to 1500 ?
Toronto or Ottawa? Which is better and why?
Please suggest

Here are the answers for your questions
I am from a Telecom/Bpo background into Sr Management
No Canada Education and Work Experience
Certification - PMP ( this did not help in the job )
Yes, I work for a Canadian company and it's an ICT (working in a subsidiary in India)
Right now in Chennai, and will have to decide shortly on this move.

By the way, I still don't have the visa yet, done with medicals and waiting ( actually not waiting) ;)

hi suresh
are you related to design firm/construction line?

Congrats on getting the job offer, its a very good one if you are seriously thinking about immigrating to canada - most immigrants find it really tough to get a job. If you take this offer and work for around 2 years - you'll have enough canadian experience to compete for better paying jobs at other companies/or even within your own company.

I'm also from a similiar background - but i haven't moved permanently to canada yet. I find your post motivating actually ;), as i also don't have Canadian experience/education but have worked 9 years for a major Telecommunications vendor.
