Hi everyone :)

My husband and I will be renting out a room starting Sept 1 from our new home. We are open to the idea of taking an international student - we are okay with you only staying for the school year (I. e., you won't have to pay for a full year if you're only in Canada for 8 months). You will have everything you need - bed, dresser, and bedside table. I am even open to allowing you to use my old laptop in the house. (It's not a great laptop, but it's better than no computer.) We have 1 cat - you don't have to like cats, but you do have to be nice to her. We are open to a couple as well if you are married and bring a spouse on an OWP.

This home will be 100% drug free, no criminal activity, and no excessive drinking. If you must, you must obtain permission from our landlord to smoke in the alley.

We will try to help you out the best we can (although we will both be working and I'm a student as well). I know moving to Canada is hard. But I can't save you from my husband's bad jokes. You will have to ignore him and shake your head on your own.

Home is in SE Calgary. You have to be approved by our rental company & will have to speak to my husband over the phone before being accepted. Our rental company is strict, so we have to be strict too, but it's better to get the rules out in the open first so there aren't unhappy surprises later! :)

Bumping this as its still open.

I doubt you will get many hits here.

Calgary isn't exactly a popular destination for international students. Not to mention that getting approved by a rental company etc seem quite strict, this would put most people off.

You'd be better off putting this up on Craigslist. Canadian first years/upper years at Calgary University might be interested.

But if you still want to try here, I'd suggest you quote the rent and conditions required by your rental company along with the post.
