i got a letter of acceptance from Vancouver College of Counsellor Training
For a 1 year program,
It’s 8 am-1pm .
Is that considered full time study or part time?? As I’m looking to bring my husband and children along for the year.
Please give me advice since I know visa Officer needs a full time study to grant my family visas.

Others can comment but those hours I would consider part time hours. Also note this college is a private college so attendance unlikely to qualify for a PGWP.

But it is in the list of colleges on cic website
That just means it is a registered authorised college but it is a private college not a public college and post grad work permits generally only get issued following attending public colleges.

Whether full time or part time is a question for the college to answer but take the example of the CIC definition of full time when counting for work experience is 30 hours or more per week yet your course is only 25 hours a week so even fails that comparison.

well it is full time or part time ..it would be specified on program details ..chck ur clg website

Well, what I came to find after thorough research is.. that there are private universities that are regulated by the provinces, thankfully Vancouver College of Counsellor Training is a member of the National Association of Career Colleges AND registered and accredited by the Private Careers Training Institutions Agency, Which is a legislated government regulatory authority.

Private career and vocational schools
Provincial governments do not necessarily regulate private schools. Make sure that the private school you apply to meets provincial education requirements. For more information on private career colleges, contact the National Association of Career Colleges.

This information is from CIC website itself.

I’m writing this down for anyone that needs info or is in my situation because I looked everywhere with no info on this matter what so ever.

1. All that means is your money is protected to a certain degree if the school goes under. It doesn't mean that you are going to get a PGWP after graduation.

I’m concerned more more about my spouse getting work permit.
Would this give eligibility to get SOWP ??
I’m reading mixed information.

Chances are less but you can always try. I will suggest you to think about a long term plan instead. If you are planning to get a work permit so you can work after your graduation, you should consider a different college/uni. This may open doors to PR in future.

Given the variance between schools and programs, IRCC does not have a set standard for determining full-time vs. part-time. They generally rely on the school to determine this.

You should really consider switching to a public school if you want to get a PGWP.

Also there is never a guarantee that you spouse and children can accompany you. You'll have to apply and see if you are approved.

But could we apply for visit visas and apply for work permit on the border? I read people can do that.
If anyone has experience please share.
