I am on TWP, still fairly new about 4 months. Just found out I am pregnant (28 weeks). What are my rights? Will i be sent back to my country? Does my employer have the right to terminate my contract with them? Does my baby have the right to be born here in Canada? How does my pregnancy affect my chance to apply for PR?
Thank you inadvance for the response.

No - you won't be sent back to your home country just because you are pregnant. No - your employer does not have the right to terminate you based on the fact you are pregnant. You are legally allowed to remain in Canada until your work permit expires.

The pregnancy itself has no impact on your ability to apply for PR. You'll still have to qualify and apply the same way as you would have without the pregnancy / baby.

You have to work 600 insurable hours to qualify for maternity leave.

OHIP should cover all costs provided your work permit is still valid at the time you give birth.

Would calculate how much you actually receive for mat leave benefits. It is far from your full salary. You need to start saving now. That is pretty crazy that you didn’t notice you were pregnant until 28 weeks! You would have been almost done your 1st trimester when you arrived in Canada. You should let your employer know so they can makes plans to cover your leave.

I know it’s crazy right? I didn’t have any symptoms. Baby didn’t start kicking until a few weeks ago. Just thought mu body was adjusting to higher altitude
