Hello,

I have a complicated question and I hope that someone can help me;
I was a permanent resident in Canada but moved to the USA in 2006 for work. Now I hold a US green card and my PR card expired 2 months ago. To complicate things I've lost my job in the US and got offered a dream job back in Canada!
I don't want to break any laws and want to move back to Canada and live there.
How can I do that without jeopardizing my job and status in Canada?

Thanks for your help

PR card expiry has no bearing. If PR status is fine, that is PR residency requirement of 730 days is met then u could get the PRtravel document (assuming ur from a country that needs a visa to enter US). Even otherwise u might need the travel document (I read this somewhere on the CIC website...) U might already have the SIN and u could apply for a fresh PR card. I guess u need to eventually give up one of the PR (US/ Canada). If u have not met the 730 days residency, then it complicates the whole thing... guess then u might need a new visa... The seniors might know better...

Thanks for the response,

I didn't meet my required duration of stay in Canada before leaving. I do, however, have a SIN.
I don't intend to keep the American Green Card. Not sure if I should start the whole process of applying for a new PR card (especially that my wife is coming with. She doesn't have a PR, only a Green Card). I only worry that a new application might get denied or that it would take too long.

Thanks
