Hello everyone, I would love some much needed advice on my options to return to Canada.

To make a long story short, I fell in love in over there and have since returned to Australia as a family member was sick. I would like to return to Canada but my 2 year working visa expires at the end of March 2017.

I have heard a few rumours that you can apply for another working holiday visa and it will be accepted.. I've also heard that this is a lie. I would love to know if anyone has recently been successful in this or if they know of it being a definite possibility.

My other option is to apply for Common law; we have enough evidence of living together for a year and sharing a bank account etc.
To be perfectly honest we could have applied for it last year but some hurdles in life set us back and we gave up momentarily.. I'm now determined to find a way!

1. What are the fees when he is a recently accepted Canadian Citizen, I am Australian and I will be out of the country for the application?
2. Will I need to apply for another work permit if it's accepted? Or is that one of the plus sides of being common law? (in Australia the same visa allows you to work, receive our basic health care, go on welfare etc)
3. How long does an application generally take to be accepted?
4. Will I be allowed to enter the country again while this is being decided?

If anyone is an expert it would be really sweet to read something honest and straight forward! I would really like to return to my wonderful man

I can answer first part the IEC for Australians is once only unless participated before 2015, see here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/iec/eligibility.asp?country=au&cat=wh Another participation allowed if via coop/intern program but not WHV.

1. $75 sponsorship fee, $490 permanent residence fee
2. No need for a work permit, the application is for permanent residence, you'll be automatically allowed to work in Canada and receive benefits, yeah, just like Australia seems like
3. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp, but the aim is within 12 months in general
4. Yes, if your eTA application is approved (assuming you'll enter after your work visa expires...I'm not sure if you can enter on it right now, someone else can confirm)

Start to read up here on the common-law sponsorship application: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp

1. The total fees will be $1040. You will also need to budget several hundred dollars for the cost of the medical, PCCs, mailing etc.

2. You do not require a work permit once you are a PR. Note that you can't go on welfare for the first three years after you land as a PR; if you do, your Canadian partner will be required to pay it all back to the government.

3. Sydney is a fast office. Australian apps generally take around 6 months.

4. Yes, you can come to Canada while your PR processes. Carry proof of the app and proof of finances.
