We received a (standard) cover letter today in the post stating

"Dear Sir/Madam,

The immigration section is returning the enclosed documents:

- photographs
- letters and postcards
- telephone bills

At this time, these documents are not required for the continued processing of your file."

We received all our photos and greeting cards back, which was really nice.

I'm hoping this is a good sign? :-\ Has anyone else received one of these letters?

Hi

We got the same thing. I am in Canada and my husband is in India. He just got back our photo's, cards, etc. But the passport has not come back yet. I was told that this is normal and that the passport should be coming soon.

How about you? Have you guys gotten your passport back? What does it say on your ecas?

I think it is good news...so congrats.

We never received anything back, but all the corroborating evidence was photocopies, the photos were proper printed pictures though, but we have them anyway, so we weren't that bothered.

I wonder what they do with all this stuff, is it kept in a file somewhere or do they recycle it?

I received all the pictures back when they were ready to issue the immigrant visa.

I think its good news as they are satisfied with supporting documents you provided. Congratulations....

wait a sec- you sent off your actual passport?

We are submitting our application this month - but I must return to Ireland in August for my Brothers wedding, for which I will need my passport.

According to the list of proof needed, you do not need to send originals unless explicitly stated (eg original Police Certificate).

This, photocopies of the passports would have been fine, no?

Irish - yes, you just send a photocopy of your passport. Some visa offices request the passport to be sent in weeks/months before they issue the visa. No one should be sending their passport with the original application!

hey guys, just a small question, if you don't mind answering
who is the one who usually receives the photos and documents back? is it the sponsor or the applicant?

thanks in advance :)

The photos are returned to the applicant.
