Hi,

My parents have 10 year multiple entry visa for Canada. They are planning to visit us in June. Is it mandatory to buy the return tickets as well? Or they can buy the return tickets at a later time? if so then what documents should be presented to the immigration officer to show the intention to return back?

Thanks

They should be able to show if asked that they have plans to leave Canada, a return ticket, if asked by CBSA. They will likely be asked purpose of visit and length of stay which may lead to the need to show proof they have a return.

If found to only have one way tickets there could be a remote chance of a restricted stay but that assumes asked about tickets of course.

Add to that the airline at checkin in home country may not be happy for a Traveller on a visit visa to travel on a one way ticket in any case , depending on the airline policy.

In any case assume you have investigated fact that generally from an economic viewpoint returns can often be significantly cheaper than 2 singles, if cost is an issue.

Ultimately decision is yours and your parents, although most would recommend returns.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
