I would like to retire to Canada as most of my friends are there. I have money for a house, money to live on private health care but it appears that there is no category for this. I will be no financial burden but will contribute by paying my taxes etc...is there any way to move to Canada as a retiree without having to pay millions of dollars, many thanks

No - there is no immigration class for retirees in Canada.

If you wish to immigrate to Canada, then you will have to qualify through one of the economic (e.g. skilled worker) or investor streams.

Friends can't sponsor through family class.

Instead of immigrating, you can snowbird as long as you are either visa exempt or can get a multiple entry visit visa. If somebody asks you anything when you enter, say you are a seasonal resident. Make sure you don't stay more than 6 months a year either and you shouldn't have any problems.
