So I know that to maintain your permanent residency you need to be in Canada for a certain number of days within a five year period but if you leave the country with your spouse who is a citizen of canada/permanent resident the days continue even outside Canada when you travel. My question is what if you choose to leave canada with your spouse whose a permanent resident and both begin to reside in another country together but still maintain your canadian status is it possible for the permanent resident to keep there pm status. ??? please help thank you

In order to maintain your PR status while living or travelling outside Canada, you must be accompanying your spouse who is a Canadian citizen. Accompanying a PR spouse only counts if your PR spouse has been transferred to an overseas location by a Canadian employer. If you yourself have been transferred to an overseas location by a Canadian employer, this also counts.
