Hello All,

I am planning to submit application for sponsoring my mother for immigration.
My question is: If she is granted immigration (whenever that happens), is there any residency obligation (#of days) she has to fulfill ?
Currently, my mother is not planning to come to canada anytime soon. Is there 730 days obligation that parents also have to fulfill?

Any pointers would be helpful.

Regards,
Sharat Joshi

Yes - she has to meet the same residency obligation as anyone else does to keep PR. She must live in Canada for 730 days (2 years) out of every rolling five year period. If she doesn't plan to do that - no point sponsoring her.

If she's not interested in living in Canada permanently, you should just get her to apply for a super visa instead

Thanks Scylla and Mikeymyke.
