Hello!
I am asking this on behalf of my sister.
My sister is married to a Canadian in 2008, and have successfully obtained her first PR card in 2010.
She have been living with her husband in Hong Kong, since 2008, came back to Toronto a few times during the last few years.
I believe under the rule of accompanying a Canadian Oversea you do not have to fulfill 2/5 years resident to retain the PR status.
Anyway she came back Christmas, filled the renewal PR Card application and she got a mail from CIC last week, it stated
"According to the Immigration and Refugee Protection act,all PR of Canada are subjected to a residency assement at the time of distribution of their new PR Card, Every individual who receive this notice must be seen in person and present the following:
yada yada, passport, t4 etc
Please come to our office on this date during the following hours :
Date April 29,2015 8-3pm
Location XXXX Dundas Stt Etobicoke.
If you are unable to appear on the date scheduled, you must come to our office within 180 days. "
So ya I am just seeking advice to see if anyone have the same issue.
Her husband been working in Hong Kong since 2009, but have yet to fill any CRA Tax because he is working oversea. Is that gonna be an issue?
What should she bring with her to prove that:
I am guessing his Record of Employment, his passport and their married certificate.
Thank You
