Hi everyone

Hello everyone,

I have two questions regarding the online Canadian citizenship application, and I want to make sure I complete these sections correctly to avoid any mistakes or delays in processing.

Situation 1. An adult applicant has been living on their own while attending university. During one summer, they stayed with their parents (in another city) for about 3.5 months while working a summer job between university terms. During this time, they kept their apartment in their university town and returned there after the summer job ended.

Question: Should the applicant list these 3.5 months at their parents’ address as a separate residence in the application, or can they keep their university address as continuous since they maintained the apartment?

Situation 2. The applicant has been a full-time university student from September 2021 to the present and has had various jobs (part-time during study and full-time during summer breaks) of different durations during this period (ex. started a full-time job in July 2022 for three months, then a part-time in Jan 2023 for 6 months, etc)

Question:
  • Should the applicant list themselves as “Unemployed” for the periods when they were a full-time student but not working (e.g., Sept 2021 to July 2022 etc.)?
  • Or is it sufficient to list “Full-time student” from Sept 2021 to present (including summer breaks) and then separately list each job with its start and end dates?

Your advice is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

1) Doesn't really matter, but if I had to pick something, it would be the precise answer, the parents address for that summer.
2) Students are not unemployed. 1 single entry for the whole period spent in university (or more than one if, say, bachelor and master, or master and PhD...), and separate entries for the jobs done as a student.
