Hi Everyone,

I am confused regarding my NOC code. Logically it seems that I should fit under 4012 NOC. I hold a Masters degree worked as a full time paid research assistant at a university. I only had research duties and not teaching ones listed as follows:

  • Undertake literature reviews/ systematic reviews
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Recruit subjects for interviews and perform data collection through telephonic or face to face interviews
  • Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects by obtaining, handling and storing data in accordance with ethical guidelines
  • Assist in project management
  • Perform data entry, data cleaning, data modification and analysis of survey data
  • Attend project meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Attend school meetings as necessary
  • Provided assistance and support to researchers in the collation, analysis and reporting of study findings
  • Summarize/synthesise findings of the study
  • Prepare other articles, reports or presentations as necessary
  • Prepare research manuscripts for publication in journals and provide assistance in the preparation of manuscripts
Can you please suggest an appropriate NOC? As per 4012, the duties are:

http://noc.esdc.gc.ca/English/noc/QuickSearch.aspx?ver=16&val65=4012

Main duties
  • Grade examinations, term papers and laboratory reports.
  • Compile research results and assist professors in the analysis of results and the preparation of journal articles or papers.
Post-secondary teaching assistants
  • Conduct literature reviews, surveys, laboratory experiments and other research for use in scholarly publications
  • Conduct seminars, discussion groups and laboratory sessions to supplement lectures
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of examinations
Research assistants
  • Organize reference materials, visual aids and other materials as required by university professors or college teachers for lectures
This group performs some or all of the following duties:
  • Post-secondary teaching and research assistants specialize in a subject matter based on their field of study.
There seems to be a mismatch in research/ teaching roles. Kindly offer advice regarding the same. Thanks heaps :)
