  • Has anyone here ever rescheduled their Canadian citizenship oath ceremony for a few months later?
  • If yes, how long were you able to postpone it? Did IRCC approve and give you a new date?
  • My oath is currently scheduled for October 15th, but due to family medical emergencies, I can only attend around January. I can be early as well but at this time I am not sure. Do I have to provide supporting documentation? Has anyone successfully pushed their ceremony that far ahead?
  • When you rescheduled, did IRCC give you the new date right away, or did you have to wait until closer to the time?

Many have done it in the past. In your case they might ask you to inform them once you are back and then only they will give you a new date. Issue with rescheduling is you wont have any control when the new date will be scheduled. In your rescheduling request you can attach the supporting documentation.

If you mean you will be out of country at that time, tell them you'll be away until such and such a date.

It seems that in almost all cases where the absence is more than a week or two, they tell the applicant to notify them again when back in Canada. (I presume they have found by experience that those who leave for longer periods like this, especially when emergencies involved, often end up not returning right away)
