Required room to rent

Hi guys, I will be migrating to Edmonton in August, and wanted to know the following
1) the safest/convient place to live in Edmonton
2) are the basement part of the houses colder?

Also if anyone knows of someone renting a room that would be much appreciated.

1) Convenient depends whether you want to live in proximity of your work place or places of shopping. For example, if I want to be near West Edmonton mall, I would live nearby.
2) Yes generally.
