Context: My partner and I are U.S. citizens and both hold admissions to a university in Ontario as well as provincial attestation letters. We each intend to apply for student visas and plan to declare (with required evidence) that we are in a common law union despite not being in a legal union in the U.S. The finacial support declaration required for two people in a family is is significantly less than that required for two individuals.

Question: Are we required to submit proof of financial support independent of one another (i.e. seperate bank statments from personal accounts), or can we use our joint account for both of us (i.e. one statement submitted by both of us)?

Thank you! Please link to any resources you might have on this matter.

You are both applying for study permits so each need to show the minimum funds for one person. You are each applying separately and not dependant on each other. But if your joint accounts show the minimum amount of $20k per person then include both types of accounts.
