Hi Everyone,

I am Maung, from Burma. I have been accepted to pursue Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at UBC for Fall 2022 intake. I am now preparing my study permit application and I will provide some of my facts. May I get your insight on this and advise me further to strengthen my study permit application.

My Background
------------------

- Graduated from a top university at Malaysia with Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering in May 2017
- Came back to my home country, Myanmar, and started working at an MNC branch in Myanmar in July 2017 as an Engineer
- Have been working in the same position since July 2017 until now
- Took IELTS test in Nov 2022 and got overall band of 8.0.

Program of Study in Canada
--------------------------------

Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at UBC for Fall 2022 intake. It has 2 streams

Stream 1: 12 Months (course only) program
Stream 2: 16 to 24 Months (with optional co-op)

I will not stay for co-op as it is optional and I can get my Master's degree with1 year (course only) stream.

Proof of Funds
-----------------
My own biggest brother, who is a Permanent Resident of Jamaica, will sponsor for my 1 year program (tuition + living cost + other expenses).

- Tuition = 22,000 CAD
- Living Cost = 18,000 CAD
- Flight Tickets (2 ways) = 5,000 CAD

He currently have around 32,000 USD (40,000 CAD) in has bank account and will have around 36,000 USD (45,000 CAD) at the end of Mar 2022. His business is a type of business where he receives money over the counter, so he normally does not keep a lot of money in Bank. However, he has deposited most of them in his bank account already for my study permit application. I am planning to start my permit application around 5-Apr-2022. He will provide his -

- Affidavit
- Tax slips
- Bank statements

Additional Proof of Funds (Secondary)
-------------------------------------------
My own account in Burma which has around 6,000 USD.

Home Tie
------------
- An apartment bought under my name (worth of 40,000 USD) from my own saving
- Job prospects related to my work sector in Burma
- My father's own company at which I myself is a member of Board of Director

Family Tie
------------
- My aging father who is at the age of 70.
- My aging mother who is at the age of 58.
- My father's current medical condition that requires at least one young/active person to be with him. (however, my middle brother is in Burma so is it considered a strong tie for me?)

I am now drafting my statement of purpose and I have put in all of the information listed above. Can anyone suggest me any highlights that will make my study permit application stronger? Or anything in my mentioned facts that will make my application weaker? Or if you have any other suggestions, I am so eager to listen to them.

Thanks a lot guys! Really appreciate your time and sorry for the long post.
