Is it true that nowadays it is GCMS instead of CAIPS that one can order to know his case summary. Secondly, what are those extra details that one can know about after ordering GCMS, like my ecas showing In Process simply means that my case is in process. Now if I order GCMS, what kind of extra details shall I be given about my case. I will be grateful if someone who has already got his case details through GCMS could share the contents that he received. Thanks

Hasni,

GCMS has about 60 pages - detail view of how an immigration officer predicts your case

pl go for it - it also helps u to fill gaps if any

let me know if u need any more help

good luck

Fine, so how can I proceed and how long does it take to get the notes. Can it be collected via email or comes by some postal service. Are there any charges for it. Don't you think it is helpfull for those whose cases are taking unusually longer times in processing and may not be that helpful for those who are following the regular timelines. Just my understanding, what do you say !
PS:I think you need to correct the meds done date in your timelines :)

thanks Hasni,

http://www.caips.ca/ for Caips

my medical date corrected :)

you will get it my email & $25

if u have a relative in Canada then $5

I ordered gcms twice .First it took around 40 days and 2nd time 28 days.
First time I ordered through caips.ca and second time visafile.info.
caips.ca cost $40 first time and $ 30 for second time
visafile.info cost 25
You will come to know point calculation, prgress stage ...detal everything.
You will get get by email in pdf form.

Thanks dear, please share with us the difference between these two. Also I have a feeling that these services are not provided by CIC but its some third party who gets it done for us charing their fee. Am I right. Hope ordering it once doesn't effect the progress of your case. How do VOs look at it, someone ordering his CAIPS / GCMS !

CAIPS stands for "Computer-Assisted Immigration Processing System". It is often used as a synonym for "information from a visa file". This system was developed in 1980s.

By 2011 all Canadian visa offices outside of Canada began using GCMS — "Global Case Management System". This is a new system; since 2011 all new visa applications are being processed in GCMS, while many older files are still being processed in CAIPS.

Information received via visafile.info is represented differently for CAIPS and GCMS. Officers' notes are in plain text regardless of the system.

If your visa file number looks like E123456789, it means that your application is being processed in the GCMS.
