My husband (family class outland application) got an email from the warsaw immigration office, informing him that they are ready to finalize his application and issue the visa.

However, as the validity of his medical examination is due at the end of October 2014, the visa would be valid until that date. They asked whether he is able to envisage a departure before that date.

It would be more convinient for us that he arrives a little later in November (giving time to wrap things up with the flat, etc.). But before we reply, we would appreciate some advice from this Forum.

Is it appropriate to request a later date? Can it be denied or change the decision to issue the visa? And if it is accepted, will they ask to redo the medical?

Many thanks in advance for your time.

You can certainly request an extension. It's extremely rare that extensions are considered. So your husband should be prepared to enter Canada by the end of October if necessary. He can always return home immediately to wrap things up before permanently moving to Canada.

They are probably trying to decide whether they need to request a medical extension internally. If he replied that it leaves insufficient time, they will probably delay the COPR issue until a medical extension is confirmed or a new medical examination is done.

Many thanks for taking the time to answer my queries. So entering before the expiry could be the safest option to avoid further delays... But then, is there a kind of timeframe to exit the country to wrap things up in our former home? Or could he litteraly leave a week later and then come back in the following weeks? Or would it be difficult once he re-enters?

The only difficulty will be once he returns to Warsaw (landed but without a PR card), he will have to apply for a PRTD (PR Travel Document) in order to travel back to Canada. You can only apply for one of those once you are Abroad.
