Hello everyone,
I applied for a study permit to pursue doctoral studies at Canada on 26th. May, 2014. I made an online application and I received an email confirmation today morning asking me to send in my passport for further processing.
Now, I have a question really. I know it's a bit stupid, but I'm being a bit scared and panicky. Would the Canadian high commission request for my passport only if my visa is approved? In case the visa is refused, would they still want the passport? Is a visa refusal stamped on the passport?
I have been to a few countries previously and never had a visa rejection. So I'm a bit scared. I hope everyone here would be able to clarify my doubt.
I would like to believe that my visa has most likely been approved, hence the request for the stamp I guess. Please clarify. Thanks. Ayan

Your visa has been approved. Have a nice stay in Canada.

There is nothing like Rejection stamp on Passport.

I called VFS Canada. They informed me that the final decision will be revealed to me only after submission of the passport. I would request you to kindly update me on this. Does CIC need my passport even if the visa has been rejected? I read on MyCIC site that in case the Visa is refused, the decision will be communicated to me via the website. I'm a bit confused. I apologise to all of you for bothering you with my queries. I'm a bit paranoid about online visa applications. Thank you.

Don't worry ur visa has been approved they only need ur passport for visa stamping and they don't ask for passport if they deny the visa

I don't think they will make you submit passport if they wanted to reject your Visa. Its common sense :)

As far as ppl in this forum, whoever got passport request has been approved... accordin to me its best, you wait till u receive your passport... do let us knw... :D

From which country u applied online?

Hello everyone,
Sorry I was off for the weekend. I'm going to join doctoral studies in chemistry at UVic. I applied for the visa on 26th May and I applied from Kolkata, India.
I have sent my passport to the High Commission at Delhi and waiting for them to return my stamped passport. I believe that it's mostly an approval, keeping my fingers crossed. The letter from CIC contained information about visa stamping, hence my belief.
I would surely update my status once I have the compete information. I wish everyone else here a very good luck.
