For the past 8 or 9 months I have been living in the same apartment/hotel room with my partner.

At first we never dreamed we would have to collect any sort of evidence or receipts because we had no intentions to move to Canada. Fast forward months later, to prove ourselves common law we must collect receipts.

That would be easy I thought! The owners gave me our monthly "guest registration" sheets. I ensured they put both our names on it. They're a total mess and very unprofessional. Although they are real, anyone could've made them. To me it doesn't prove much.
But if got me thinking,....maybe we need "Official Receipts" ;
I asked for them and they will give them to me but only if I pay 12% extra tax on all my previous months rent.

That will cost us a small fortune we simply can't afford right now. It's obvious that they don't want to issue official receipts because they don't want to pay the taxes. I understand that, this is The Philippines and that's just how things work out here when it comes to taxation. Nobody really claims much. So even though anyone who wanted a receipt in the past would get it, without paying more, I won't because they don't want to 8 or 9 months in back taxes.

So, knowing the owners well. I had them make me a Billing Statement of our names, all the dates we stayed here, and the price. Then we went to the notary public and had it notarized. I also got a separate letter of support from the owners stating how we met them, how we ended up renting the place, how they know we've been living together, etc.

Does anyone think that will be acceptable as a receipt? I can also provide several contact numbers for the owners, managers, etc who work here and know for fact they we have been living together since early October 2nd 2010. Furthermore I have a notarized letter from a friend who states we all met sometimes before we moved in together and then eventually all came to the island we call home and they've been to our house several times.

I've also got text messages backing this up. For example on Sept 30/2010 I have texts saying how I found us a home. Talking to eachother where to meet in Manila (to pick her up and head to the island we're living on now called Boracay) And a long pause in the dates where we did not text until Oct 4/2010 with her saying. "Babe come home now, I am cooking dinner for you"

I guess I'm just hoping it's satisfactory proof that we have living together since Oct 2nd and not later because my flight home to Canada is Oct 20th and that's just barely over a year!

some people do live with their families (parents) and common-law and their parents wrote a notarized letter stating that they all live together so i think it should be enough....do u have any official bills, mail, bank statements coming to that address either on ur name or her name? if yes, include a collection of those too

Including everything you mentioned, plus the 'guest registration sheets', should be enough.
