My wife and I have booked flights to visit family in Canada this July but have run into some issues since her PR card is expired (we have not been in Canada long enough to renew it).
We heard you can get a 'PRTD' but it turns out this route was too burdensome and costly ($400 in shipping alone) to do every time we travelled, so we decided to renounce her status online as part of an eta application. We realize we could just arrive by land from the US but it costs over $2,000 to redirect our flights.
We submitted the documentation over a month ago and have not heard anything back yet. Does anyone know how long this can take and if there is anything I can do to accelerate the process? We are starting to get a bit anxious as our trip is 1.5 months away.
