I am Angelita Bondoc Concepcion, 67 years old, a filipino citizen and presently on a family visit visa here in Doha, State of Qatar. I was issued a multiple entry visa last April 7, 2016 and will expire on May 14, 2019. I used this visa once in 2016 when I visited my daughter, a Canadian Citizen. I plan to visit her again by August this year, 2019.
Can I apply for a renewal of this multiple visa while I am in Doha, Qatar.
Anticipating a favorable action on the matter. Thank you.

You have to submit a brand new application for the visa and apply from scratch.

You cannot renew the visa.

Technically, you can do it, but unless you're staying in Doha up until August to fly to Canada from there, you're better off doing so when you return to the Philippines to minimize the risk of complications or delays. It takes 28 days for TRVs to be processed in Qatar, compared to 12 days in the Philippines. Are you staying in Qatar for at least one more month?

Also, when does your passport expire?

I intend to stay in Qatar for a maximum of 6 months. However, since my multiple Canadian Visa is still valid till May 14, 2019, instead of renewing it or applying for a new visa, can I enter Canada before May14, 2019 using said visitors visa.?
Also, my passport will expire in 2028.

Yes, you can do that. Your current visa is good until May 14, 2019–you can land on that very date.

Thank you for the immediate response. I have further clarification to make.
As mentioned that I can land in Canada on that very date, meaning, May 14, 2019, what will happen to me or what will be my status after May 14, 2019?
Can I stay with my daughter for a month even if my valid visa expires on May 14, 2019.
Am I made to understand that as long as I land in Canada with a valid visa, I can still stay beyond its expiration?

Yes. A visa is a document authorizing your entry. At the port of entry, you will be granted visitor status for up to 6 months, which authorizes your stay in Canada. Visa and status are distinct concepts and have separate validities.

Thank you so much for the info.
It cleared my concerns. God Bless.
