Hi all. My work permit is expiring in 6 months. Would it be too early if I submit an application to get my work permit renewed? It's quite difficult to get a job with a work permit that expires in a few months...

(My refugee hearing was canceled and IRB has not set a date yet, we are expecting it to be in Dec 2018- Jan 2019).

Thanks.

1. Too Early.

The fact that your work permit ends in 6 months is not the issue for employers. Employers are often reluctant to hire and train someone until they have been granted asylum. They want to put time and effort into an employee they know will be in Canada for the longterm. Not a comment on your case but on the refugee applicants in general.

You are only allowed to apply for a work permit renewal within 90 days to expiry either online or by courier.
