Has anyone here renewed their expiring SIN when going into implied status? Or is it just assumed that under implied status, one should just continue to use the expired SIN number?

Anyone with direct experience in this?

Hello! When I was on implied status before, I did not even bother renewing my SIN.(because you have to have a valid status in order to renew it) I only renewed it when I received my PR card and they gave me a permanent SIN. :) Are you working right now? Same employer? if yes then it doesn't matter.

Open Work Permit

working now yes, but about to accept a new job, when I called CIC they said that implied status gave all the same rights as the original OWP and would be completely ok to take a brand new job as well, and the CIC agent sent me an email explaining how to tell a new employer about implied status

but the SIN part of it I didn't ask the CIC worker, and not sure if that is even their concern

so I guess, as you answered, while under implied status it is probably assumed to just continue to use the expired SIN until issued a new one, thanks
