Hello Everyone,

I have received approval for my study permit. However, I noticed that in the PPR letter, it stated 'Your passport must be valid for the duration of your expected length of stay in Canada.' My studies will finish in summer of 2025, but my passport will expires in November 2024. Simultaneously, in the tracker, I noticed that the expiry date of my study permit is listed as November 15, 2024, which matches the validity of my passport. Furthermore, my travel document number showing in the tracker is the same as my passport number.

Given this, should I renew my passport before I send it? Is there any advantage to this, since my visa has already been approved on my old passport?

I am aware that I can extend my study permit once I arrive in Canada, but I am trying to avoid this option if possible. I am curious to know the best practice in my scenario.

Thank you,

Thank you,

Permit expiry date is tied to the PP expiry date. I suggest you renew your PP and extend your study permit once you are in Canada. You didn't say when your intake is but delaying in submitting your PP until you get a new one could delay your processing for an unacceptable length of time. Your application could also be cancelled if you don't submit you PP in a timely manner.
