Dear friends

We renewed my spouse's (Applicant) passport now although it expires in November because at that time we are expecting our baby and we didn't want to leave it last.
Do we inform our VO (Vienna) through a Vase Specific Inquiry and send them as attachment a scan of the new passport?

Sorry if this question has been asked in the past but I couldn't finf any relevant messages here.

Thank you all in advance

You will still have chance to submit your new passport, when they call for the Pasport for visa stamping.
When they call passport, they you a form which you've to fill with the updated information. So, that time you can put new passport copy and no. and attach both passport.

no need to inform them now.

Thank you dear friend!
I was under the impression that we had to notify VO for a change of Passport. European VO's require you to send your passport at the end of a successful process unlike some VO's in Asia.
Thank you kindly but I will still wait for another opinion maybe from someone who had the same experience of the same VO

Regards and good luck to you!

Send a scanned version through a Case-specific enquiry, so they already have it on file, and when you send it, it might save you time - you never know. You don't have anything to loose by sending it, so you might as well!

Hi dear Sweden (A)

One of the reasons we did the renewal a little prematurely was because if she get her COPR and If I understand the procedure correctly to have enough time to depart for Canada. Her Meds expire Jan 31 2014. But because her old passport expires Nov 2013 then if she gets approved we wouldn't have enough time because we certainly do not wish to have a new born baby to endure a long flight plus all the inconvenience that comes along when settling in a new country.
So I believe that when they know that this is a new passport then her COPR will be valid up to the time her Meds expire...Correct?

Warm regards

yes - that's correct. If you hadn't renewed the passport, the expiry date of the COPR would be the same as the passport, while now, with a brand new passport, it's the meds date that they will take into account. It definitely gives you more time to travel with a newborn!

Hi Sweden and thank you again!

I just sent them the scan of the new passport through a Case Specific Inquiry. Of course as usual I got an automated reply back from them with the usual :

"This is an automated reply. Please do not contact us again before 1 month has elapsed. Emergencies will be dealt with separately. We only respond to enquiries written in English/French. Responses will not be provided when the answer is readily available on our websites www.kanada.at www.cic.gc.ca. To provide feedback on your experience at a Canadian port of entry, go to www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/contact/com-eng.html"

Hi messenger,

Would you say that it is better to send in the renewed/new passport when they request for it? Or is it better to have it done ASAP?

I think it would be easier for us to wait till the PPR for us to send them the new one..

I don't want to risk any more delays...

Thanks

Ypu did the right thing , that you scanned and you emailed them the passport , i would also send through the mail with your file applications, i did this when they asked for my husbnad militatry booklet,. and i remebered that MP , and Vienna embassy told us to email them , and to Mail them ,

Generally I think it is better to inform them before PPR. If they go ahead and print the visa and or COPR, then they would have to redo that since there is a new passport number expiry date and so on.

When my husband got the call for the PPR they told him it was already printed. So had we been waiting it would have caused delays.

Thank you all for the inputs!

From what I've seen here from the replies I got yes I believe this is the most sensible thing to do. Why not send it to them!
