I would like to inquire if it's alright to get a new visit visa now even though the expiry of my current visit is still a year from now on July 2021. Due to the pandemic, I am afraid that international flights would not be opened as early as September of this year and foreign nationals are not allowed unless you qualify as per the exemptions mentioned in the official website of Canadian government.

Other variables for my concern is our contract here in our company is also no longer secured. With this pandemic when businesses are closing and losing money, most expatriates are now being released. I feel fortunate that my contract has been extended for another year but who knows what will happen a couple of months from now.

I want to get a new visa now if it is alright and advisable to get one because my passport is also renewed for 10years so am expecting that I will be given that much longer of a visa if approved. Then I will feel more secured even if I will not be renewed next year because I can always go back to Canada anytime thereafter and get family sponsorship in the process.

Thank you.

What visa? Do you mean permit maybe? Generally I would say it makes no sense to renew so early, I doubt they would grant you a much longer extension, your circumstances might change drastically until that time, what would you put as supporting documents for your extension requests? I dont think it works.
