Hi all,

Thanks to all for the very valuable information on this forum. I haven't found any relevant topics similar to my case so here goes:

I am considering relocating with my company outside of Canada however I am currently in the process of sponsoring my parents to live in Canada. I have applied in 2010 and recently CIC requested PR application forms to be filled out for all applicants being sponsored. These have been completed and sent back to cic for processing.

How will my relocation affect the application process? Note that my permanent address will remain in Canada as some of my family will remain after I relocate.

Thank you in advance and if I haven't provided any other relevant information please let me know.

Regards,
Ml

It doesn't matter. When someone is sponsoring their parents, they are supposed to be living in Canada - regardless of whether they are a PR or a citizen.

The short answer is that moving outside of Canada could result in a parent sponsorship application being refused (if CIC finds out the sponsor has left Canada).

Thanks for the quick response. I am a citizen.

So i gather from your opnion the most suitable time to relocate is after the applicants land in Canada and recive their PR status.

Ideally - yes. Defer relocation until their PR visas have been issued. It's possible CIC may not find out you've left the country if you do so now. But you are taking a gamble with the application by leaving.
