Dear All:

I have received request for medicals for me and my wife for the application under process at Buffalo office. My wife is 16 weeks pregnant now and, while we are still evaluating the option on X-ray part of the test, I have a question on whether the Consulate office would issue Passport request just for me alone after I submit my complete medical report while submitting only partial report for my wife, skipping her X-ray test for later submission after delivery appropriately notifying Consulate office about it. I am the principal applicant here and we both are already in Canada with me on work permit. I would appreciate any inputs on this as it would give me better clarity to make informed decision.

Many Thanks in Advance.

It`s best to contact your designated medical center. I think that they do not do X-Ray if the woman is pregnant but I am not very sure about this.

PPR will only be issued after both of you complete the medicals. If your wife skips xrays no problem. She will again get a medical request after delivery to just do the xray part. Also remember that you will have to include the new born and submit the necessary paperworks to get a medical request for the infant.
If you just complete your medicals no way PPR will be issued to you.

found this on another site . . . . .

"Your pregnant wife can take medical no problem. There is two parts on medical: blood work, etc and x-rays. Pregnant women can take the first part and decide whether they want to do the x-ray at that time or after delivery. If you choose to take the x-ray after delivery then your application will stop (stand-by) until medicals are completed.

In my case I took the first part of the test and waited for the x-ray until my baby was 17 weeks. It is safe to undergo the x-ray after the first trimester. I did a lot of research and my doctor said it was fine. I took the tests in Canada and asked the x-ray person to double shield me in order to have extra protection for the baby. Do your research and make your decision."

Thank you all for the replies. I will check with doctor and follow her advise on x-ray in addition to my own research.
