My husband applied PR visa application and submitted all the documents for both of us. But I was refused a visit visa by an embassy (Germany) in 2007 and forgot to include this in the background declaration. Can CIC detect this during security check and if so can it lead to negative consequences regarding this application?

My husband and I are still waiting for the medical checks. The refusal stamp is on my old passport which I lost couple years ago.

Should we send an explanation letter to the visa office when we get the medical check? Or it is better not to mention it?

This really bothers me everyday, and I hope someone can give me some professional advices.

Thanks a lot

Yes - there is a chance CIC could find out. I would contact them and correct this error asap.

If the error is found by CIC, your application will be refused. In addition to being refused, there is also a good chance you would be charged with misrepresentation and banned from Canada for 2 years.

You need to correct this error.

Thank you so much for the reply.
Do you mean that I need contact visa office now or I can wait after I get my medical check, and submit a new document which include the information.
Do you have any advice about how to make a better explanation?

Send letter that you forgot to give that info, before any decision is made - its not an issue to be refused a visa but not letting them know abt it - surely is
BTW, I don't agree with previous user that they will find out for certain - ( unless they want to ) but its best to be safe

I didn't say that. I said there was a chance.

The part that is certain is that the application will be refused IF they find out.
