I got ITA, I need reference letters from my previous companies (oversea). Who can make reference for me ? only Manager, HR (since I left companies for a few years, and my previous managers are not there anymore). Can I ask my previous co-workers to make preference ? Also, Should I mention salary in reference letters ?

Thank you in advance.

IRCC demands to have the reference letter from your immediate at that company. Any immediate person who could vouch for your work at the company should suffice.

this is an excerpt from the official website:

  • should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
so it can be signed off by either the immediate supervisor or HR/personnel officer

thank you for your replies, I am trying to contact HR from previous companies. However, one of previous company was closed. Could I ask my previous work-mate to write preference letter ?

well if the company is closed so I guess, the only way is to get from former colleague or better supervisor. Just my opinion.
