Hi everyone, asking a question on my partner's behalf.
He currently lives in Vancouver and received his request for passport copy email this morning, which I understand occurs right before COPR. The email states that his passport SHOULD be valid for at least 6 months to avoid issues with international travel.
However, his passport expires in 5 months. From reading threads here, I understand the issue is that some airlines don't issue boarding passes for passports that expire within 6 months. In his case, this won't be an issue as we would be driving down to the border to land.
Is it ok for him to just go ahead and submit the copy of his current passport? He already emailed the IRCC but we all know they can take forever to reply. He also has an application for a new passport ready to go in case the IRCC does tell him to apply for a renewal first. But I'd rather get everything done and dusted with asap.
Thank you.
