Hi, My mother has received the permenant resident visa but has not become a landed immigrant yet. What happens if she cannot come to Canada before the visa expires? Does she have to formally give it up or simply let it expire? Her circumstances may not let her travel before the expiry date on the visa. Please help to answer this.

Understand that if she allows it to expire, there is a good chance that CIC will not reissue it. If that's the case, you would need to start the entire sponsorship process from the very beginning.

Not related, can't tell - but this is chance of a liftetime, she can land and go back if she has to for any reason - its matter of 1-2 days if it needs to come to that
