Hello everyone,

I have been in the pool for the past several months with a score of 466. My work experience in Canada started on October 2013, and ended on September 2016. After my last day of work at the end of August, I didn't update my work experience in my profile, and on October 1st, 2016 my points automatically went up to 477 from 466.

I filed a technical issue report about it but my score was not revised, I only got an email explaining the general details of the express entry process. Afterwards I filed another report, but the outcome was the same. Both reports are documented on my mycic account.

A couple days ago I received an ITA, with the point cut off at 475.

Can someone please explain to me how to proceed with this situation? Do I decline the invitation and wait for another invitation, then list the details of the incident?

Any help would be appreciated!

Of course you have to decline the invitation.

You will not be required to explain why you declined the invitation.

Please do not listen to the person above.

You quit your job short of working 3 years and you forgot to update your profile.

Do not accept the application as you would be misrepresenting.

When in doubt listen to istari ;)

Thats not any mistake !! You might have gained score coz of work experience !! System updates automatically.
!! Donot deny the invitation !! Accept it and proceed !!

Did you read the first post ? Op said that they worked from October 2013 to September 2016. They did not complete 3 full years of work experience. Those points were awarded because OP failed to update their profile to indicate that they stopped working, so the EE system assumed that they were still accumulating work experience and updated the CRS accordingly.

Agreed with everyone else. Don't listen to the person above (they don't know what they're talking about). You must decline the invitation.

Agreed with everyone regarding declining the ITA!

CIC will review your application and recalculate your score after you submitted your application to make sure you have enough scores. They do not blindly believe the system or what applicants claim. They review all your documents as well to make sure what you claim is accurate. Your application will for sure be rejected if you claim for points you do not actually deserve.

Thanks so much everyone!

Frustrating as is, I will have to decline this one. Does anyone think it would pose a problem to accept an invitation at a point below 466, which is what my actual point is supposed to be? Can I do this with my score showing 477 in my profile?

Thanks again for all the help!

Decline the invitation and update your profile to the correct dates. You'll then get 466 points. When you hen get your ITA at 466 points you won't have to hide anything.

Before you decline it, ask yourself if there is any possible way how to get additional 9 points to your application (work experience, spouse work experience, second language, education, or better score for 1st language).
Important is that the proof is from before the nomination was given.

@Vensak Unfortunately there's no way I can get another 11 points on my application. I even calculated my cumulative hours from my start date, I'm short by a couple hundred hours.

@kryt0n I updated my profile to reflect the correct dates as soon as my score increased. When my score didn't update I filed a technical issue report that shows up in my profile, however all I got was an email from CIC explaining the general process of the express entry system. I filed another technical issue report but the result was the same...

Then you can just keep declining ITA until the cut-off score reached your score of 466.

CIC does not mind how many times you declined ITA.
