Hey everybody!

I hope this topic might be interesting for all of those who went through the Canadian experience process as students to become permanent residents of Canada.

Has anybody tried to reclaim the portion of the international fees after graduation and acquiring PR? And if so, how does it affect your income taxes?

Regards,

There is no such thing as reclaiming a portion of international fees, but if you filed a tax return each year and used your T4A(from the university/college) you likely carried over thousands of dollars in tuition credits. These credits can be used to reduce your tax burden and it makes a HUGE difference, speaking from experience.

Note that if you did not file with your T4A, you can still do that now to avoid missing out on these credits - visit one of the volunteer tax centres(free) or HR block(for a fee).

T4A ?? or T2202A? or am I mistaken?

T2202A... sorry about the mix up.

Correction - should be T2202A not T4A.
