My brother came to Canada to help me with my mother who is recovering from cancer surgery. He applied for an extension and we just got word yesterday that his extension was refused. Question: After your first extension request is refused can you reapply again immediately? Things have changed since his initial application was submitted as my mom's cancer has now spread, so based on this new information are we eligible to reapply for an extension. We want to do things by the book, but to ask him to leave his mom who is possibility dying is inhumane...

If you can shed any light on this I would so appreciate it. THANK YOU

You can certainly try. Your brother will also have to apply to restore his status in Canada since the refusal has put him out of status.

Thank you for the quick response. Trying to find information on this specific issue is like digging through a gold mine. I'm trying to find out how much time he has to reapply and which do we do first; the restoration for his status or the extension...

THX AGAIN

If his initial visitor status has expired, he has to apply for restoration of his visitor status, he can't apply for an extension. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/validity/restoration.asp
