Hello everyone,

I am new to this, but forgive me if I am asking the obvious. I have recently made an application with Lawyers in Canada to apply for Express Entry. I have just done my IELTS and is awaiting the results, I am also awaiting my WES evaluation results as well. In the meantime, because I want to move ahead, I have applied to a College in Toronto to study and have been given an offer. However, I have not yet applied for a study permit.

My question is, will my application for PR be affected in anyway if I have accepted the offer of admission to college. I am due to start in January 2016.

Kindly share your thoughts on this.

There is no way your application will be affected. You can apply for a student visa, even if you have already applied for PR under express entry. CIC tracks every applicant through a unique client number assigned for each client and they will know that you have 2 applications put in based on EE and study permit. Here there will be two probable cases depending on how far along you are with your EE application. They will determine which application will need to be processed first based on the probable processing timelines ( I would expect the student visa processing to be faster).
They will still continue processing your EE application even if you are issued a student visa. Once you receive the PR, the study permit that is issued becomes irrelevant, because as a PR you are free to study/work in Canada.

Hi!! This post is great for me as I'm in he exact situation! Got my IELTS results and I'm waiting for ECA to apply for PR. Meanwhile I've applied to George Brown to start a PG 05-2016.
Do you have idea how much time before my program starts I could get into Canada with the student visa?? I mean in case de PR isn't ready, which is probably what's going to happen as it takes a bit longer to be ready. I've got 2 young kids and I'd like them to start daycare and kinder before I had to be in class.
Thanks!!

Hello,

If you apply as a PR you will save 50 percent fees for sure. bcz as an international student you pay very high fees.

rest is upto you. you can apply for both the things for sure.

Hi Connie...here is the link that will help determine the amount of time required by your nearest Canadian visa office. Plan accordingly for your college intake formalities.
