Hello everyone,

My post graduate work permit expires in 13 days and I am going to submit my application for PR under common law soon. In that application, I am going to include my application for an open work permit. This will give me an implied status and I will be able to continue to live and work in Canada.

I understand the process time is at least 11 months. My only concern is my health card expires in 13 days as well. I live in Ontario and I found out I can't renew my health card until I get a new work permit.

What if I have to see a doctor in the next 11 months? What is the best course of action to take in this situation? Has this ever happened to anyone?

Thank you for reading and any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Private insurance may help you get through the wait time to AIP.

I suppose I would go to the Walk-In clinic if I didn't have OHIP or private insurance and pay hard cold cash to see the doctor.
