Hi,

I am processing for my temporary work permit via "the Labour Market Impact Assessment Exemption Code: C16 – Canadian Interests – Significant benefit – Mobilité Francophone "

I just received the opinion letter and it is negative!!!
To have the chance to have your work permit, you have to meet those 3 of the following criteria:

1) is destined to work in a province or territory outside of Quebec;
 2) has been recruited through a Francophone immigration promotional event coordinated between the
federal government and Francophone minority communities;
3) is qualified to work under NOC 0, A or B.

I am from Belgium and french is my mother tongue...
I have a job offer in Ontario (outside Québec), Job NOC code 6221 ===> B ...
I have been invited by "Paris immigration ambassy" to follow a conference regarding the francophone mobility...

So, I met all criteria !!!

But, my application is rejected... How it is possible???

Anybody can help me???

Thanks a lot, Lio

Hi Lionelneels,

I'm interested in your experience as I am also trying to figure out how to obtain a work permit through the Mobilité Francophone program.

I'm afraid I'm not in a position to really help you out, but I would really appreciate if you could share your experiences anyway. Who knows, we might even be able to figure out what went wrong in your case.

First, your issue.

To start, does the "opinion letter" mention any specific reason for refusing you?

Did your employer submit the offer through CIC as required for instance? (Just throwing ideas around here)

The requirement that's the most puzzling to me is the "recruited through a Francophone immigration promotional event". I find this requirement really obscure, and it is even stated (though some information session regarding Mobilité Francophone) that :

"Applicants who have been in communication with the embassy regarding immigration issues, have requested information from the embassy, have had discussions by email with the embassy regarding their situation and plans, have participated in a recruitment or promotional event or have attended an information session online or in person, are considered to meet this criteria".

So, based on that, it seems you fit the criteria, but maybe having been "invited" by Paris immigration embassy was not considered as having been sufficient? (as in, you would have to "attend" before you would be considered to have been in touch with it?)

Would you mind sharing how you have been invited by this embassy?

I have been looking around for details regarding the so called "recruitment events", but so far I have only been able to find a single one: Destination Canada Job Fair (held in Paris and Brussels sometime in November). That seems to be a rather short window to obtain a job! Also, you need to get invited to this Job Fair and the invitations only start in September. Aren't there any other places to look? Other recruitment events? The Destination Canada website is frustratingly scarce in information in that regard.

How did you get about getting a employment offer in Canada while in Belgium if I may ask? Did you have any contact in Canada prior?

I think that's enough for now. I thank you in advance for any information you are able to share. I'm very much hoping to obtain a work permit through this program and am not sure how to go about it. I hope we can also analyze and help resolve your problem concurrently.

Best,

(PS: I'm from France)
