Hi everyone,

I'm currently on vacation in the Caribbean and I plan to come back to Canada on April 14 (next Friday). I landed in Etobicoke on March 18 and at that time, the processing times for the initial PR card were 18 days. So I weighed my options and thought I would receive my PR card in Canada during my vacation and that my friend would have been able to mail it to me.
Well, guess what, my PR card never came and I just realized I forgot my Confirmation of Permanent Residency. And getting a travel document is basically impossible because the visa bureau is on another island...
So my question is: what is the worst case scenario that can happen at the POE (Trudeau airport in Montreal) if I travel with just my passport? And if I decide to go through the US border by car?
It was stupid of me to think that the PR card would arrive quickly and then very stupid to forget my CoPR but I called many times CIC and nobody really gives md a real solution so I'm trying here...

Tganks!

Answer depends on whether you hold a visa or non visa exempt passport.

I hold a French passport so no visa needed.

You should be able to board a plane to Canada by just your visa-exempt passport. Do NOT mention to the airline you are a PR, or they may demand to see proof. Instead if asked just tell them you're traveling as a visitor.

Once at Canada POE, CBSA should be able to determine your PR status just based on your passport info. Worst case they would send you to secondary inspection, but it would all get sorted out and you will be able to enter as a PR eventually.
