Re-entering Canada with RTD

Hey,

I am planning on visiting Egypt to see relatives soon using my RTD for the first time. I heard that returnees are questioned at the airport upon return, and I also heard that someone was detained for few days coming back to Canada for whatever reasons. Why would that happen to any protected person if they were granted a RTD to travel? I’m concerned now even though I got no intentions to visit my country of origin whatsoever. Any thoughts??

Because many people go to neighbouring countries and then cross on foot to their home countries and don’t follow the rules. Not sure why people were detained. That likely was due to some security concern about what they were doing outside Canada. Longer trips on RTDs would also raise a red flags.
