When you are a refugee claimant does the time spent in Canada go towards citizenship. ?

Heard conflicting stories that its only counts after your claim have been accepted...then your days count towards citizenship. Half a day up to full year.

Days u spent as a refugee claimant awaiting a hearing date does not count towards citizenship?
Could someone clarify please thanks

@scylla

You're right. Time as a refugee claimant is not counted towards your citizenship. After becoming a protected person (accepted claim) each day counts as half a day up to a maximum of 1 year. Then after becoming PR each day counts for one day. To be eligible to apple for citizenship you need to of course be a PR and have accumulated 1095 days (3 years) out of the past 5 years.
