We have applied for PR for my British partner (I am Canadian) in June 2015. They started to process the application in September and have made a decision this week for which we are now waiting the result. Does anyone know if this is usually a good or bad sign?

If you haven't had any requests for extra documents (that you didn't comply with) or an interview, it's very likely a good sign. Check out the London thread and spreadsheet, LVO has processed quite a few applications in just 4-6 months recently, none of which have been refused to my knowledge. We applied in late July and got Decision Made yesterday, and I'm definitely expecting it to be a positive decision.

They did ask for some more information but we sent that in to them within 5 days and never heard any more from them. I will just have to hope for the best.

The most common reason quick DM's end up as rejections seems to be if the visa officer isn't convinced the sponsor or applicant will relocate to Canada. This seems to be more likely if the sponsor is overseas with the applicant.
